  • Overview

    The Behavior Technician will provide clinical skills instruction and behavior reduction protocols based upon the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis to children with autism and related developmental disabilities in the home, community and school settings.  Position will collect data on programs, assist with parent training, and assist the Behavior Analyst and other staff with clinical assessments as needed.


    Work Schedule:   Monday through Friday (40 hours per week)

    Varied hours between 7 am to 7 pm; must be able and willing to adjust work schedules based on their clinical case load and the needs of individual clients.  


    • Provide direct client care in 1:1 and group settings utilizing a combination of intensive teaching and natural environment training arrangements.
    • Follow the prescribed behavioral skill acquisition and behavior reduction protocols.
    • Follow and record data for various training protocols.
    • Collect, record, and summarize data on observable client behavior.
    • Complete objective clinical documentation (including daily session notes) in a timely fashion.
    • Stay informed of agency policy by reading memorandums and attending required meetings and supervision.
    • Assist with parent and caregiver training in line with client’s individualized treatment and behavior protocols.
    • Effectively communicate with parents and caregivers regarding client progress as instructed by the Board Certified Behavior Analyst.
    • Utilize safe and appropriate handing procedures when working with clients.
    • Respect and demonstrate the ability to maintain client confidentiality.
    • Assist Behavior Analyst and other staff with skill acquisition and behavior reduction assessments.
    • Assist with preparing client materials as instructed.
    • Maintain a clean, safe and organized work and therapy environment.
    • Collaborate with treatment team including client, parents and caregivers, outside professionals, and agency staff.
    • Transport children in personal vehicle when needed.
    • Act as an ambassador of Family Service & Guidance Center in community settings.
    • Maintain and acquire technical knowledge by attending required trainings.
    • Support and actively promote the vision and mission of Family Service & Guidance Center.
    • Promote teamwork among program staff.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Amount of Travel Required:  Up to 30%; day travel within Shawnee County


    • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
    • Must be at least 18 years of age and have a strong desire to work with children.
    • Possess valid driver’s license with good driving record, current auto insurance, and a reliable vehicle.
    • Current TB test (agency paid).
    • Must have current First Aid/CPR certification (or ability to pass certifications within 30 days of hire, agency paid)
    • Must have current RBT certification or have at least 1,000 hours work experience with children w/autism and be able attend 40 hour training (agency paid) and pass exam within 45 days of hire
    • Must exhibit satisfactory communication (verbal & written) and computer skills.
    • Ability to learn techniques, protocols and processes to effectively work with targeted client population.
