    Family Service & Guidance Center is a non-profit community mental health center that specializes in meeting children’s unique needs.  We have been improving the lives of children in Shawnee County and across Northeast Kansas for over 110 years.  At FSGC, you’ll be rewarded every day, knowing that you’ve helped improve children’s lives.  

     

    Our agency is seeking an APRN to join our dedicated medical team.  Position will provide advanced nursing services to emotionally disturbed children/youth focused in pharmacotherapy, diagnostic interviews, consultation assessments and select individual therapy cases.

    Responsibilities

    • Provides advanced nursing services to emotionally disturbed children/youth.  Advanced nursing services include, but are not limited to:  pharmacotherapy pursuant to written protocol, diagnostic interviews and consultation assessments, and select individual therapy cases--with consent of supervisor.   
    • Provides concise, but thorough documentation of all interactions with clients, or interactions with other providers on the client’s behalf.
    • Provides back up when necessary to other Psychiatry Department staff.
    • Orders laboratory studies as indicated by client’s medication regime or physical condition.
    • Maintains written protocols as required by the Kansas Nurse Practice Act.
    • Communicates effectively with clinicians within the agency as well as community referral sources, such as primary care providers, school officials and others involved in the care of our clients.

    Qualifications

    • Master's degree in nursing
    • Licensure as RN with certification as APRN
    • Proficiency with psychiatric medications
    • Experience working with children and adolescents in a psychiatric setting preferred.

     

    Working Conditions:

    Office based working environment requiring long periods of sitting, use of the keyboard and personal computer, dictation of clinical services and speaking on the phone.  Medical documentation is done within an electronic medical record and requires viewing a computer monitor and proficient key board skills. At times the children/youth express themselves by verbal or physical acting out.  Restraining acting out youth using MAB protocol is a possible occurrence. 

     

     

    Background checks and drug screen required.
