  • Overview

    The Substance Use Disorder Treatment Coordinator will facilitate the development and ongoing operations for the agency substance use disorder treatment program.  Position will provide individual, family and group therapy to assigned clients.  Serves as a liaison with other area substance use disorder treatment providers; enhances coordination between organizations.  Position is a clinical consultant to the agency for substance-related disorders.


    • Actively promotes and aids in the development of the FSGC Substance Use Disorder Treatment Program, to include potential recruitment of appropriate clients, staff, funding sources and integration of required paperwork/procedures related to substance use disorder treatment.
    • Provides individual, family and group therapy to assigned clients.
    • Serves as the liaison with other area substance use disorder treatment providers; links services and enhance coordination between organizations for mutual clients.
    • Regularly meets with internal teams to provide information on the Substance Use Disorder Treatment Program and serves as a clinical consultant with regard to substance-related disorders.
    • Participates in or lead training for staff related to substance-related disorders, in collaboration with the Team Leaders.
    • Supports and actively promotes the vision and mission of Family Service and Guidance Center.
    • Respects and demonstrates the ability to maintain client confidentiality.
    • Acts as an ambassador of Family Service & Guidance Center in the community, especially related to the development and operation of the FSGC Substance Use Disorder Treatment Program, and helps promote understanding of substance-related disorders and treatment. This may include activities to meet training and educational requests within the community.
    • Represents FSGC as a member of the Association of Community Mental Health Centers of Kansas Addictions Committee.
    • Responsible for obtaining and maintaining appropriate State (and other, as appropriate) certification/licensure regarding substance abuse treatment.
    • Promotes a consumer friendly attitude by team members.



    • Master's degree in mental health related discipline from an accredited university
    • License to practice in the state of Kansas as a licensed mental health professional
    • Licensed as an Addictions Counselor (LMAC) or as a Clinical Addictions Counselor (LCAC)


    • Experience working with child/adolescents who have mental health and substance-related disorders required.
    • Must have training and experience in the treatment of substance use disorders, preferably with focus in children and adolescents.


    Working Conditions:       

    Office/desk work.  Frequent interruptions can occur.  Some travel may be required especially regarding collaboration with other substance abuse service providers  There is minimal risk of exposure to aggressive and/or acting out (verbal and physical) children and youth.  Most interactions are with other agency staff, clients, and collaborative agencies in the community.


    Background checks and drug screen required.
