  • Overview

    As a Family Service & Guidance Center Bachelor’s Level Student, you will work in a stimulating and collaborative environment where you’ll gain exposure to diverse clients and perspectives.  You will be introduced to our mission that drives our employees each day.


    Students are encouraged to network with other employees and build relationships across disciplines as well as with other students.  Student placement is unpaid position. 

     

    *Summer Placement application deadline is January 31, 2019

    *Fall/Spring Placement application deadline is February 28, 2019

    Responsibilities

    As a Bachelor’s Level Student, you may have the opportunity to work in the following areas:

    • Will observe and job shadow staff.
    • Job shadowing may focus on attendant care services, psycho-social group services, case management services, wraparound services, parent support services and/or crisis resolution program services.
    • After extensive job shadow/job observation, the student will be asked to plan curriculum and/or help administer curriculum and interventions.
    • Will have opportunity to attend various trainings during the placement period, on various clinical topics.
    • Will have an opportunity to research and present on a topic selected by the Training Coordinator and Student. Student will present to a specific internal audience, coordinated through Family Service & Guidance Center’s Training Coordinator.

    Qualifications

    Education:

    • Current enrollment and in good standing in an accredited bachelor’s degree program majoring in social work, psychology or human services field 

    Experience:

    • Passion and desire to work with children and families
    • 0-6 months experience working with children

     

    Work Environment:

    Risk of exposure to aggressive and/or acting out (verbal and physical) children and youth, and exposure to low socioeconomic homes and neighborhoods.

     

    Background checks and drug screen required.
