  • Overview

    Position provides one-to-one direct care to children/adolescents that are experiencing severe emotional disturbance (SED) or are at risk of becoming SED.  Services are providing using the treatment plan, developed by the treatment team including the family.  The children/adolescents receiving these services are typically in crisis situations.


    Work Schedule:

    1st Shift:  Tuesday-Saturday 6:30am-2:30pm 

    2nd Shift: Tuesday-Saturday 2:30pm-10:30pm (2 positions)

    2nd Shift:  Monday - Friday   2:30pm - 10:30pm

    2nd Shift   Saturday - Wednesday 2:30pm - 10:30pm



    12-Hour Shifts:

    Day Shift:  Friday-Sunday 6:30am-6:30pm  --   $12.00/hr



    Wage:  1st Shift $12.00/hr

                 2nd & 3rd Shifts - $14.00/hr

    • Provide one-to-one direct care to children/adolescents that are experiencing severe emotional disturbance (SED) or are at risk of becoming SED.  Services are provided using the treatment plan, developed by the treatment team including the family.  (Children/adolescents receiving these services are typically in a crisis situation.)
    • Provide services based on the decisions of the treatment team who is responsible for the treatment of the client.
    • Work collaboratively with the client, family and treatment team to identify treatment goals, objectives and discharge criteria.
    • Demonstrate leadership qualities, assist staff, be responsible and lead others during assigned shifts. Inform the Crisis Resolution Program Coordinator of any issue interfering with the operation of the Crisis Resolution Program, including personnel issues when appropriate.
    • Be available and flexible to work with the assigned client/family during crisis situations to help maintain the client in the home.
    • Participate in Crisis Resolution Program supervision meetings provided by the Crisis Resolution Program Coordinator for case review, case assignment, program maintenance and operations as well as training. 
    • Responsible for reporting significant events to the case manager, clinician, managing the case, the Crisis Team as well as the Crisis Resolution Program. 
    • Complete clinical documentation in a timely fashion as identified by the Crisis Resolution Program. 
    • Stay informed of changes in agency policy by reading memorandums and attending required meetings and supervision. 
    • Be aware of ethical behavior expectations and act accordingly. 
    • Respect and demonstrate the ability to maintain client confidentiality. 
    • Act as an ambassador of Family Service and Guidance Center in community settings. 
    • Support and actively promote the vision and mission of Family Service and Guidance Center. 
    • Transport children in personal vehicle, when necessary and appropriate. 
    • Other duties as assigned by supervisors such as; assisting the Crisis Resolution Program Coordinator in clerical tasks, physical maintenance of Crisis Resolution Program, providing Crisis Attendant Care, etc.


    Crisis Attendant Care Providers must be at least 19 yrs old and at least three years older than the client.  The Crisis Attendant Care Provider cannot live in the same household as the client. Must have two years of documented experience with the population to be served; or have completed two years post-secondary education in a human service field; or, have a combination of experience and post-secondary education that totals at least two years.  High school diploma or equivalent required.  


    Must successfully pass the KBI and SRS Central Abuse Registry and background investigations and possess a valid driver’s license.  A good driving record, proof of insurance and reliable transportation is essential to complete job duties.  A TB test is required to be on file before assigning Crisis Resolution Program shifts.


    Must have sufficient ambulatory capabilities to work with children/youth in the office or community based setting. 


    Requires physical ability to restrain children and adolescents exhibiting out of control behaviors that threaten the safety of the client or others.


    Crisis Attendant Care Providers must be able and willing to adjust work schedules to meet the clinical needs of their clients.  Attendant care is frequently requested for evening and weekend times.


    Must exhibit satisfactory written and verbal skills.


    Crisis Attendant Care Providers must possess and utilize sufficient interpersonal skills to promote teamwork.  Must be able to collaborate with other team members to deliver optimal services to clients.


    Must successfully complete Managing Aggressive Behavior, CPR and First Aid, within the first three months of employment. CRPACP’s will attend an orientation regarding ethics and confidentiality and Kids Training Attendant Care, Crisis Intervention and Medication Administration online training prior to working with clients.


    Working Conditions:

    Primarily community-based  working environment, i.e., school, local community centers, socially appropriate activities and functions, etc., with some possibility of working at FSGC in programs that the client may be attending.  Attendant care requires flexibility in scheduling; risk of exposure to aggressive and/or acting out children and youth, and exposure to low socio-economic homes and neighborhoods.  Most attendant care is provided in CRP occurs at the physical site of CRP, away from the child’s home, with some exceptions depending on the need of the child as detailed in the Crisis treatment plan. CRPAPC’s will also be required to frequently use a keyboard or personal computer to complete documentation and maintain communication through e-mail.
