    Family Service & Guidance Center is a non-profit community mental health center that specializes in meeting children’s unique needs.  We have been improving the lives of children in Shawnee County and across Northeast Kansas for over 110 years.  At FSGC, you’ll be rewarded every day, knowing that you’ve helped improve children’s lives.  We have an exciting opportunity for a licensed psychologist to add to our autism team!


    The Psychologist will be a shared role working 20 hours per week in the autism program and 20 hours per week as an outpatient therapist.  Position will use their clinical expertise and knowledge to administer testing necessary to diagnose autism. Will complete admission assessments, develop treatment plans and protocols for clients, and facilitate other follow up services such as psychotherapy as deemed necessary on an individual, family or group basis.  


    • Administer testing necessary to diagnose autism including but not limited to ADOS-2, Vineland, etc.
    • Conduct parent training groups that are part of the treatment protocol for the Autism Program.
    • Complete admission assessments per agency procedure for all new, or returning, clients.
    • Facilitate individual, family, or group psychotherapy processes and meet the Center’s productivity expectation.
    • Psychotherapy processes may be provided in the office, client home, school or community.
    • Provide crisis intervention with families as deemed appropriate.
    • Work with parents to develop treatment plans and protocols.
    • Attend all required staff meetings and trainings provided by the agency.
    • Maintain clinical licensor by obtaining the continuing education credits required of your specific license.
    • Complete clinical documentation in compliance with time lines established by the Center’s Quality Improvement standards as well as those set by funding sources.
    • The Psychologist is also expected to stay informed of agency developments by reading agency related written communication and communicating those to their teams.
    • Respect and demonstrate ability to maintain client confidentiality.
    • Act as an ambassador of Family Service and Guidance Center in the community setting.  This may include doing public educational and informational presentations.
    • Supports and actively promotes the vision and mission of Family Service and Guidance Center and the philosophy of the strengths perspective.
    • Other duties as assigned by respective supervisors.             



    • Valid Psychologist license (LP) to practice in the state of Kansas required
    • Valid driver's license, current auto insurance, a good motor vehicle record, and a reliable vehicle
    • Active membership in professional organizations strongly encouraged


    • Experience working with special needs children/youth, families, and community based services preferred
    • Must have proficiency using MS Office Suite, and prefer experience using electronic medical record system(s)


    Working Conditions:

    Office and Community-Based working environment; requires flexible schedule; frequent interruptions occur; expected to deal with individuals in crisis; risk of exposure to aggressive and/or acting out (verbal and physical) children and youth, and exposure to low socioeconomic homes and neighborhoods.


    Background checks and drug screen required.
